

Olive Carmichael Hall died Tuesday February 21, 2023 at her home in Cave Spring. She was born September 9, 1923 at the home of her grandmother, Mrs. W. B. Boone, in Carroll County, Ga. She resided with her family in Etowah, Elizabethton, and Maryville, Tennessee as a young girl. Her parents were Wade and Maudie Boone Carmichael. She lived in Carroll County from 1932 until 1936, when her family moved to Rome, Georgia. She attended Tubize School and was a graduate of Rome Girls High School and Carroll Lynn Business School.
She was employed by the Rome News Tribune as an Accounts Receivable Bookkeeper for six years.
She married Ernest E. Hall on November 16, 1946. She resigned her position in 1949 in order to become a mother and a full time housewife. She was active in PTA and was helpful as a grade mother when her children were in elementary school. She was a good seamstress making most of her twin daughters’ matching clothes.
She returned to work in 1969 at The Department of Family and Children Services to help her husband with the educational expenses of their four children. She resigned this position in 1979. She had been a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and Garden Lakes Baptist Church, while living in Rome. She became a member of First Baptist Church of Cave Spring in 1967 when the family moved to the Cave Spring area. She served for many years as a teacher in the Nursery and Pre-School Sunday School Department.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the William Witcher Chapter of Cedartown, Georgia. She was member of the Northwest Georgia Historical and Genealogy Society, The Georgia Rural Letter Carriers Association and the National Association of Federal Retirees. She and her husband had been members and officers of the Roman Squares Square Dance Club and founders and officers of The Springers Dance Club of Cave Spring.
Olive was preceded in death by her parents, Wade and Maudie Carmichael, husband Ernest Hall, brother Cecil Carmichael and her sister Kathryn Carmichael Hall.
Surviving are sons Martin Hall (Melissa), Michael Hall (Kim); daughters Jeanette Sanders (Mark), Annette Montgomery (Rich), all of Cave Spring, Georgia. Grandchildren Amy Chapman(Mitchell), Laura Reed (Chase), Eli Montgomery (Nicole), Ches Montgomery (Carolina), Andy Montgomery (Taryn); Step grandchildren Holly Gill, Jeremy Sanders (Jessica), Jenny Hagley (Jeff) , and Eric Decker (Amy). Great grandchildren Kacie Rosser, Sydney Fuller, Bruce Anderson, Breckin Reed, Zoe Montgomery, Ada Montgomery and Cora Montgomery. Step grandchildren Marley White, Kallee Sanders, Karly Sanders, Dayton Sanders, Eleanor Hagley, Owen Hagley, Alyssa Decker, Cayden Decker. Special nieces Susan Childers (Fred), Jane Hall (Keith Lazelle), Amanda Smith (Billy), special nephew Wade Childers(Alison) and special great niece Alex. Great great grandchildren Ace Anderson, Preslie Rosser, Gracen Fuller and step great grandchild Haylee Rosser. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church of Cave Spring on February 25, 2023, at 2:00 pm with the service to follow at 3:00 pm.
