Ray William Whitlow

Mr. Whitlow was born in Trion, GA. May 14, 1921. He was the son of the late Albert Whitlow, and Pearl Adkins Whitlow and he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Caroline Berry Whitlow.

He was a lifelong resident of Rome GA. Mr. Whitlow served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in Italy and Africa. He was a member of Shannon Masonic lodge for 67 years. Mr. Whitlow was in the textile business having worked at Burlington, Lindale, and Anderson Company.

He is survived by one son, Ray Whitlow, Jr. and wife, Delcia of Republic of Panama and by his daughter Dianne Whitlow Knight and husband, Bill of Ft. Myers FL,; two sisters, Nellie Ruth Bailey and Mary Lois Franks; four grandsons; Ray Whitlow III, Bobby Whitlow, Dean Burton, and Tony Whitlow; three granddaughters, Caroline Burton, Berry Burton; and Sara Salinas. He was blessed with ten great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Whitlow were held Monday Oct. 19 2015, in the Griffin Memorial Chapel of Daniel’s Funeral Home with the Rev Scott Lambert officiating.

The family received friends, Monday Oct. 19 2015 at Daniel’s Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour. Interment followed at EastView Cemetery with the Shanklin-Attaway American Legion Post 5 Honor Guard presenting military rites.

Pallbearer were Nephews; Russell Archer, David Archer, Charles Whitner grandsons Dean Burton, and Ray Whitlow III. Family would like to thank our Riverwood Retirement Family, and Hope Hospice.
