Robert Owens

Mr. Owens was born in Rome on January 16, 1928, the son of the late James Dean Owens, Sr., and Katharine Glasgow Owens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Proctor Owens, on June 3, 1992, and by a brother, James Dean Owens, Jr.

Mr. Owens formerly owned and operated Owens Hardware until his retirement. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he was a deacon, Sunday School teacher and Boy Scout leader. He was also a member of the Kiwanis Club and the Jaycees.

Survivors include one son, Robert G. Owens, Jr., and his wife, Susan, of Roswell; one daughter, Jennie Owens Bishop, and her husband, Michael, of Marietta; and four grandchildren, Robert G. Owens, III, Michael T. Owens, Frank A. Owens and Katharine Bishop.

A memorial service and interment was held Friday, April 8, 2011, at 10 a.m. at the graveside in the Myrtle Hill Cemetery with Neil Sanders officiating. The family greeted friends at the graveside following the service.
