

Mr. Sitton was born in Macon, GA, on September 28, 1931, and was the son of the late Raymond Lindsay Sitton ad Avis Thompson Sitton. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Avis Symons and one brother, Ray Sitton.
Mr. Sitton lived in various towns throughout Georgia and moved to Rome in 1962. He joined the United States Army and served his country proudly while serving in Korea. He was an avid reader and loved working crossword puzzles. He was proud of the fact that he was part Cherokee Indian. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. More than anything he loved being with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Norma Sitton, of Rome, to whom he was married for 63 years; one son, David M. Sitton (Nese), Albany, GA; one daughter, Kathy S. Washington, Rome; grandchildren, Laura Manning (Chuck), Carrollton, Nathaniel R. Lincoln, Bluffton, SC; one great grandchild, Zoe Lincoln, Guyton, GA; and one sister, Juanita Peterson, Portsmouth, VA.
Funeral services for Mr. Sitton will be held Sunday, July 19, 2015, at 3 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3300 Garden Lakes Pkwy., Rome, GA 30165 with Bishop Nick Filetti officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 2 until 3 p.m.
Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
