Tracy was born in Bowdon Hospital on September 28, 1953 to George Emory and Ruby Mildred Marlow Harman. He had one brother, Charles Emory, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Barrow Harman and their children: Ginni Harman Poole (husband Dustin and children Evan Tracy and Ella Rose), Katherine Tracy Harman, and William Edward Harman; extended family and a wealth of friends.
Tracy was at his happiest when surrounded by his family – when all of his children were home where he firmly wished they could stay, even as he gave them the wings and the good common sense they would need “out there”.
Tracy’s absolute joy was his grandchildren, Evan and Ella. When he first learned he was to be a grandfather he chose his own granddad name and since the birth of that first grand, he has been “Doodad”.
Tracy loved to be outdoors. He hunted, fished, rode horses, hiked, camped, and enjoyed nature from Georgia to Alaska. He was a guitar player, loved to read, and he had to have the grass cut JUST SO. He fried the best turkey in the world. He tried to be a world class curmudgeon but had a soft spot, especially for animals and he embraced every stray animal that wandered into his yard and every animal his kids and sister-in-law sneaked home.
Tracy made an impact on many people but his enduring legacy will be the remarkable children he and Ginger raised. Their lives will be a living memorial to this man, this son, brother, uncle, husband friend. This Doodad.
There will be a memorial service on October 29 at 3:00 p.m. at Proctor Farm, 2591 Fouche Gap Rd NW, Rome, GA. In lieu of flowers the family requests remembrances of Tracy to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Sierra Club Foundation.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.Daniels-FuneralHome.com for the Harman family.
