When my Mom met Bill Penfold and fell in love I had the pleasure of gaining a second family. Ray was a new brother in law, a cool guy who loved cars and travelling. He was always a great host and a sweet, kind hearted man.  RIP Ray

I remember once I was at the age of 14-15(I think), we spent our summer weekends at our acreage in Ellenburg, Vermont. We had lazy afternoons, mowed the lawn and had campfires after supper. Glen and I would spend the night in a tent in the wooded area that seemed like a long way from the house, but it was not even 100’ away. I remember one time, we went to visit the farm up the street to help milk the cows and dad let me drive his car all the way there on a back country road. I could barely see over the steering wheel; my love of driving started that day and has stayed with me since. It was a great bonding day. 
R.I.P Dad. I miss you already. You will never be forgotten.

Ray was a big brother who was always doing things, in and away from home.
I remember him building his stereo in his room. He would be busy drilling holes and nails and we all were there to hand him nuts and bolts. 
I also  remember him leaving for ski weekends and suddenly coming home with a broken leg. we spoiled him while he was in a cast. The one memory
that remains with me today, is that he didn’t like eating alone and he would call me by nickname“mookies”. to keep him company while he ate and to this very day if I am alone to eat I think  of him.  I remember him laughing, joking and living life,his way.

Ray Fairon, you have left this planet for a better world and we hope you will find the best golf courses where you are now.  Anna and I want to say how much you made us feel welcome and were a mentor when we joined Green Valley Golf & Country Club, today known as Golf Le Diamant a private golf course back then, for the first time in our life.  You always had kind words as we where very nervous and did not know anybody. Anna and I were both afraid to say the wrong thing and or make mistakes in this new environment after playing on public courses for quite a few years. We particularly remember our first “2 balls, best ball” tournament we played along with you and Joyce first year at Green Valley, when you explained with patience the rules of the game on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.  You made us feel relaxed and we enjoyed the whole day as well as the fantastic evening dinner by the pool.  We loved watching you dance that night and every time there was music at events held at the Club.

The first time I met Dad was in June 1978 when my social worker Mrs. Mcleoud drove me to 285 Willowtree Crescent in Rosemere. There are things you cannot forget. I just had my adenoids out and was feeling a bit ill. There was a grey Buick Park Avenue Electra and a red Chevrolet Nova Concours in the driveway and I only remember this because of Dad’s love for cars which made me remember every make of any car that passes my eyes. Dad was BBQing and when I came out of the car he grabbed me and lifted me up and hugged me. That’s the first memory of my Dad. That weekend was nice but I was uncomfortable because it wasn’t home. I actually didn’t have a home but it wasn’t what I was used to. Dad had the patience beyond any person I know to transform me from an angry child into a person with patience who takes every day as a learning experience. Dad showed me a world that I would never have known if I hadn’t won the lottery and landing in his arms. I literally won the lottery of life.

The thing is he chose me, there r many Dads who aren’t around but mine never argued with Mom in front of us, never yelled and screamed and was always there for supper and in the mornings before we went to school. That’s why I will miss him do much.

I can remember all of us getting together as kids and celebrating birthdays and Christmas.  I also remember going to Uncle Bill and Aunt Margaret's house and wanting to go out with you older cousins and sometimes you would take us shopping with you, but most times not.  Ray would sometimes sit on the floor and play games with us.  Ray was a wonderful man.  RIP another angle has received his wings.
