Viola passed away peacefully at Rosetown Nursing Wing on the evening of Thursday Sept 29th, 2010, at the age of 93. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Cheryl (Ted) Llewellyn, Saskatoon, son Daryl (Vickie) Davis, Rosetown. Grandsons Ryan (Kim), Brad and Travis Davis. Granddaughters Crystal and Darcie Waddington. Great granddaughters Josie, Brooklyn, and Mackenzie Davis. Brother Harold Helm and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 52 years Ernie Davis, parents Thomas and Martha Helm, sister Ethel (Howard) Beckman, brother John (Anna) Helm, sister-in-law Audrey (Harold) Helm and many other friends and relatives. Viola was born at home in the Camberly District north of Rosetown, was raised on the family farm and schooled there in true Saskatchewan Pioneer fashion. She married Cornelius (Ernie) Davis in October 1938. Together they farmed in the Cleland District and displayed that special spirit of which Saskatchewan’s early farmers can be rightly proud. She was a farmer to the end. Viola was also very musical; she played both piano and violin and sang in true Helm family tradition. In 1985 she moved to Rosetown. Many in the Rosetown and surrounding districts were honoured to have Viola as a friend. Her doors were open to all. In 2001 Viola became a resident of the Rosetown Nursing Wing and enjoyed the company of both residents and staff. In that respect the family would like to thank everyone for their support. The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at the Rosetown United church with Reverend Jo-Ann Hills officiating. Interment followed in the Rosetown Cemetery. Donations in Viola’s name may be made to the Rosetown Nursing Wing. Clements Rosetown Funeral Home entrusted with the arrangements.
