

Betty Darby entered into eternal rest on Monday September 23, 2013 in Roseville CA due to complications of Parkinson’s. She is survived by her loving husband Joseph W Darby and her nephew Fred Boyle of Manhattan New York. Betty is the daughter of Walter Schwer and Gertrude Schwer and was born near Omaha Nebraska on February 11, 1932. In 1940 her parents moved from Omaha to Sacramento CA where her father began working for the Southern Pacific Railroad. Betty attended Sacramento High School graduating in 1950. She was also a USO hostess and made trips to Mather and Travis Air Bases with the USO to entertain the airmen. In 1955 Betty traveled to Okinawa where she worked in administrative work for the CIA. At this time she met Joseph Darby also with the CIA who was enroute to assignment in Bangkok Thailand. Eventually they both returned to Washington DC and after dating for one year they were married in 1960 in Falls Church VA. Betty obtained a position in the FDA in 1969 where her husband was also employed. They were transferred to San Francisco in 1970 where Betty became the Administrative Officer of the San Francisco regional Office of the FDA for 18 years. They retired in Gold River CA in 1985 and later in Roseville CA. Betty was admired everywhere she lived and worked and will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
