Dora Campoy passed away peacefully on Monday, February 27, 2012, surrounded by her family. She was 88 years old. Dora was born in Weed, California on November 26, 1923, to parents Pietro and Matilde Marani. She grew up in Weed and Broderick, later settling in Sacramento, where she graduated from McClatchy High School in 1942, having been head majorette of the McClatchy Marching Band. Dora met and married Joe Campoy of Fair Oaks in 1945. Together they had four children, Joe Jr., Larry, Mathew Jon, and Donna Marie. They raised their family at Represa, Folsom Prison, where Joe's career of 40 years culminated with his appointment to the position of Warden. Dora was active in the Women's Prison Auxiliary Group, St. John's Catholic Church of Folsom, and St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Rocklin. Dora enjoyed spending many hours in her beautiful garden that boasted over one hundred rose bushes, tending them by hand for decades. She loved spending time with her ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren, hosting many a family gathering at her lovely Granite Bay home. Dora was preceded in death by her husband Joe, her sister Sue, her brother Robert, and her grandson Nic. She is survived by her sister Norma Harris, her children and numerous inlaws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members. All who visited Dora found her home a warm and welcoming place to visit, with abundant food, drink and enjoyable company, combined with stories of the past which Dora dearly loved to share. A memorial mass will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, March 2, at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 4450 Granite Drive in Rocklin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity in Dora's name.
