We met the Crams through Roseville Youth Soccer back when our boys (Casey and Andrew) were about 10 years old. So, so many fun memories and laughs together through those years including the always-fun out-of-town soccer tournaments where we would cheer from the sidelines and then enjoy some bad pizza and beer back at the hotel after. Karen was always, always, always in a happy mood, in total joy being with her family and friends. When she was with her kids and Med, you knew that was exactly where she wanted to be! 

We will forever think of Karen whenever we see yellow SUVs because that was her signature — everyone on the team knew that she was already at the field because her SUV was so uniquely “her”—it literally was like a ray of sunshine!

Karen was a dedicated team mom and then an extraordinary volunteer tournament director for Placer United. How she juggled all that with her full-time job was beyond impressive. Karen gave 200% to everything she did.

We will remember Karen always and will keep the Crams in our hearts forever.

I had the distinct pleasure of working with Karen for the last seven years at Dry Creek. I will always remember her kindness and willingness to share her knowledge of the district when I first was hired on. She was incredibly intelligent, and was tenacious when faced with solving a problem or uncovering a mystery! Karen was truly more than a co-worker to me, she was my friend. She was the one I went to for parenting advice, and could always count on her to listen to me without judgement. Karen was responsible for bringing much happiness to my kids each month when I brought home leftover cupcakes from the district's birthday celebration. Every time they saw cupcakes in the fridge, they would ask "are these Karen's?" If I said yes, they would be gone in seconds. She also helped my family celebrate many milestones with her delicious delicacies, and my family would personally request her cupcakes or, my favorite, cheesecakes, for our special treats. 

Above all, I will remember how much she loved her family. There was rarely a day that went by that didn't include her sharing news on her husband, children, and most recently, grandsons. Her eyes would light up whenever she would receive a photo or Facetime call from Casey/Jessica and the boys. She was so proud of each of you, and truly was an inspiration, and role model to me on how to love your family unconditionally and with everything you've got. 
I miss her terribly, but I cannot fathom how completely and utterly this loss is affecting all of her guys. My sincerest condolences. 

This was a photo with Cooper, her first grand baby, in the backyard of Grandma’s house in Oregon. Karen was helping him figure out how to swing and when he was getting the hang of it, Karen lit up with joy as you can see in the photo. But this was always how she was, full of joy when spending those precious moments with Cooper. She was such an incredible Grammie. Always being hands on and wanting to play, learn new things, and even introduce him to some of her delicious cupcake flavors when she baked. She was an amazing mother and wife but watching her be a Grandma was such a gift because she loved these kiddos so much. The last time Karen and Med came to visit, Jackson was about 10 days old and I remember watching her hold him and interact with him without a care in the world. It was like they were in their own little bubble of sweet precious Grammie time… when I look at Cooper and Jackson now, I know their Grammie is with them and watching them with a huge smile on her face. Oh how we miss her so much it hurts. Love you Karen

This is Dave Hottman's Celebration of Life - if you didn't know Dave - Hawaiian shirts were a must.  Miles, Distance & being busy may keep us apart, but we're here when it counts.  


My favorite picture is of our "brother and sister".  I have so many memories of Karen and Med.  We met in late 1986 or 1987.  I was dating Dave Hottman.  Dave had close friends in Oregon City and Selah/Yakima where he had grown up.  Med and Karen were MARRIED - and very YOUNG when I met them.  Still, they were very welcoming of me as Dave and I dated, broke up, got back together, got engaged, got married, bought a house, had a baby, they were there for all of it.  Dave was always trying to catch up to Med and Gil & Dennis who were all married and working on having children.  
My memory of Karen was a person who would support you no matter what... We shall not speak of Robin & Erics wedding weekend, but only Med "probably" knows about when Karen met me at Willamette Falls Hospital - midday - Colby was little - MacKenzie was 7 weeks old - my mom had a stroke, Dave couldn't leave work - Karen appears out of nowhere and said I'm here - what can I do.  I handed her MacKenzie and had a huge cry.  Then we got on with the day.  
She was an amazing woman, that I miss dearly, even if we didn't speak every day, every month, I miss her and I feel so badly for her husband, sons, and grandchildren - she should have had more time to be a Grandma and a Wife and Mom - Karen...  you were an amazing friend, that I will never forget and think about every day.  

I went to Kindergarten with Karen in Oregon City. These past years I have watched her kids grow and have kids of their own. I was always amazed at Karen for going to the gym and sticking to her routine. I’d always give her a ‘like’ when it popped up on fb that she was at the gym that day! Her baking ability amazed me! I wished she were local and I’d surely hire her to bake for me! Delightful designs indeed! And those grand boys! They were her everything….they opened the skies in her eyes and the future was bright! Love shown in every angle of the camera. She radiated the deepest warmest love that I hope will stay with them forever. My truly heartfelt condolences to all ❤️ 

  I grew up with Karen. She was more like my sister than cousin. We played, argued and laughed together. As we grew up our time together vanished and being together was very limited you know how being grown up with a family takes up so much time. But we both loved each other very much and planned on spending time together at a latter date. My heart is hurting very badly. 

Such a devastating loss -Karen  has been my best friend since 5th grade and the world will not be the same with out her!!
She loved her family with passion and always talked about her grand babies !!
She will be missed -💖
