

peacefully passed away in his home on February 21, 2017. He was
a second generation Japanese American (Nisei) born to Kiichiro
and Nui Takahashi in Loomis, California on October 16, 1920.
Milton was a student at UC Davis studying Veterinarian Medicine
and his studies were put on hold as he and his family members
were ordered to the internment camp at Tule Lake War Relocation
Center in California at the start of World War II. For two years,
Milton worked as a farmer and raised pigs while in the internment
camp. After two years in camp, Milton joined the US Army and
served first in Florida and then in Belgium, Germany. When World
War II ended, Milton went back to Loomis to run the family business,
Loomis Mutual Supply Company with his brother George. Milton
worked at Loomis Mutual Supply Company until it closed in 1988.
Milton met his wife Setsuko while he was visiting in Japan. They
were married on June 26, 1963 and raised their family in Loomis.
Milton was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather;
always devoted to his family and friends. Respectful, hardworking,
soft spoken, giving, gentle, and selfless are some of the adjectives
that best describe Milton. Milton was a humble man who put
others before himself. He taught his family the importance of hard
work and the importance of being kind to others.
Milton loved working on his land and he grew some of the best fruit
in Loomis. He had a sweet smile and a huge heart, and those who
met him immediately loved him due to his kind demeanor. Milton
took great care of his family and his family meant the world to him.
He will be lovingly remembered as a gift to all his family and friends.
Milton was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Setsuko;
parents, Kiichiro and Nui; brothers, Homer, George, and Tom; and
son, baby boy Takahashi. He is survived by his sons, Jon (Meg),
Nashville, TN; James (Grace), Citrus Heights, CA; two
granddaughters, Anna and Abby, Nashville, TN; brother Harold;
and sister Bessie. He was very proud of his family and loved them
very much.
