Mona, Was so sorry to hear of the loss of your husband, way too soon.  My thoughts and prayers are with you and your sons during this difficult time.

To Mona, Mathew, and Michael--
Sue and I were shocked and saddened to learn about Bob.  
Way back before kids, Bob, Mona, Sue and I were fast friends and had a lot of fun together as young couples.  In the mid-70's, we lived in the four-plex next door to theirs just off Folsom Blvd. When we first met, we learned that Bob had been a Park ranger, while I came close to becoming  one. We enjoyed quiet partying, a crazy "scavenger" hunt, listening to George Carlin and lots of music (e.g. Cat Stevens),  rafting on the American River and a trip to Death Valley. Bob and I shared a love of basketball, and played a lot together, both in pick-up games and in various local leagues. He and I were big fans of UCLA basketball and I remember distinctly watching the 1975 NCAA finals together, the last year for Coach Wooden. 
As we both became parents of sons, we shared in the fun of raising boys.  In later years we got together less frequently, but did so a few times in the last few years, including a trip to Davis for an Aggie football game. Bob was a class act. He was a pleasure to be with. We will miss his positive outlook, thoughtfulness, good nature, and sneaky sense of humor.

I am saddened  to hear of Bob's passing. We were buddies at McClatchy High School. I remember teaming up with Bob in Miss Coulter's public speaking class to debate whether the atomic bomb was needed to end World War II. I also remember when I called his home I had to tell Bob's mom which Bob I was calling. I had not seen Bob since UC Davis but I thought of him every time I saw his aunt Tippi Hedren in a movie. Rest in peace Bob.

Bob was one of the nicest, most humble and hard-working individuals that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing.  He will be missed by all who worked with and appreciated him at the Dept. of Conservation.

Bob was my fraternity pledge brother at UC Davis. The comments I see here describe the same Bob we knew. A great frat brother turned into a great father/friend/coworker. Sincerest condolences to Bob's family and friends.

I guess I worked with Bob for 10 years since I remember when he started and when he retired.  Time passes so quickly.  Bob was a wonderful person to work with.  He never complained about the endless amount of documents we reviewed and was a great fit for our work unit.  I hope he had time to enjoy his family and life in his retirement.  My condolences to his family for losing such a great man.

My condolences to the Blanford family. I worked with Bob at the Department of Conservation. As a young employee starting my career in state service, Bob was a shining example of what a public service employee should be. Nobody worked harder or was more conscientious than Bob. He taught me how to be a better employee and person in general. I feel priveleged to have known him. Rest in peace Bob.

Bob was a great guy who took his work seriously, but did so with a great sense of humor.  He was very thoughtful in the broadest sense of the word, seeking to understand complex matters.  I worked with him on Williamson Act issues right up to his retirement, and he was an exceptional colleague.  I am very sorry for the family's loss...

My condolences go out to the Blanford family. Bob was a humble supporter of our years playing baseball as a kid. I can still remember road trips in his red van that went to every game and tournament in California. Bob will be remembered with great memories of my childhood. He loved baseball and watching his boys. I am saddened to hear this news.

Mono, Mat, and Michael, our heartfelt condolences to you and the family.  Those are some cherished memories of Bob coming to practices, baseball games, Pow Wow Days, and what a loving father he was to his boys.  I know he loved you tons Mono.  I'm so sorry to hear of your loss.  Be in comfort that we all will be together again, laughing, running, yes running around together, joyfully in Heaven.  Bob and his sons, his wife and his friends.  Fond, fond, memories of baseball get togethers, parties, and travels.  Our next destination together~Heaven.  Love to you all.
