Biographical Sketch written by Ron Weis in 2005
Born (in Kenosha, WI) and raised in southeastern Wisconsin to strict Catholic parents—Nick and Edna Weis. The Weis and Stollenwerk families were mostly farmers until the mid-70’s.
Lived in Union Grove, WI in a place called “Boxers Hill”. Loved sports, fishing and hunting with my friends--especially fox hunting in the winter. Will always remember the hunting and fishing with friend, Bill Alexander and the special meals Mother fixed with the fish and game we caught!
Many fond memories of my days at the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater; working at Brown’s Lake, Leggets as Bartender and waiter, also working at American Motors and finally getting my degree in 1965.
Mother and Dad were always “Tuff” with us because we would try anything once. Made us all work for our $$. Had two paper routes well into High School. Was Homecoming King in 1958. (big deal)
Launched first “NonRecourse” indirect Dealer Finance Program on West Coast in 1974. Started several Dealer Finance Programs in Northern California—last being RV & Boat Programs at Brasher’s Sacramento Auto Auction.
Gambled on moving with family from Pittsburgh area in Pennsylvania in 1974 to Sacramento with unknown Dealer Finance Program, and I think all turned out pretty good.
