I did not know Dan had passed away. Saw him at our class reunion in St. Clair Shores Memorial Park back in September 2018. Was a great classmate of Sacred Heart Roseville class of 1968.

Dan, I've missed you for so long, we certainly should have met up for lunch. Dan was a long time friend, almost like family. My heart aches now knowing that I will never see you again. Thank you for always being there for me.

Dan made certain throughout all of Braydans childhood. That he was a constant beacon of consistent love.  He was the glue that held difficult situations together. I don’t know what we would’ve done without him. He will be strongly missed in our lives. But we are certain we now have a guardian angel watching over.

Dan had such a special place in his heart for children. Always showing so much love to all of the kids who shared our home with us. But, Braydan always knew he was his favorite:).

Dan always showed up for special moments with our boy. On this day we were celebrating Braydans 5th Birthday.

Braydans adoption day meant so much to all of us. The pure joy Dan had to share in this moment with us showed his love for our BrayDAN.

I'll always remember the great stories Dan would tell me about him and his brothers growing up, sneaking out of the house, their neighbor, Mitch Ryder, and all the basketball games they played. I caught the bouquet at Dan's wedding and ended up marrying his brother and Dan always had advice (some good, some bad), his theory on how to pick out a good woman, his love for his "foster" kids and his brothers and sisters. He had a long hard journey later in life and I'm glad he no longer suffers. He was a great brother-in-law and friend. Rest in Peace but spread those wings once in awhile and look over the people that love you. Glad you are with your parents and family in a better place. Always love you, Dan.

I had the pleasure of cleaning for Dan over the last few months and he was the absolute most kind hearted man. I must say he was my favorite biweekly clean because every time I know I’d get a payday & a coke. Over the last few months he shared many great memories with me of his family and friends, of his previous foster children.. I went to his home for his normal biweekly clean on the 23rd and wasn’t able to reach him.. I rang the buzzer for 15 minutes and just waited.. I have been calling him, texting him for days and finally today I called the police for a wellness check where they informed me there was a medical emergency. I cried.. I am so sorry for your loss and I hope you know he was always talking about his family.

Saw Dan about 5yrs ago. We had good conversation at Memorial Park. He was not well but managed to smile and laugh. That's how I choose to remember him. Smiling.

He is survived by many nieces and nephews. Also, Ashlynn, Gia and Braydan held a special place in Mr. Dan’s heart.


He was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Nancy Voss along with his siblings Katherine, Thomas, Ann, Patricia, Mary and Gerard and his brother-in-law Larry.
