John Joseph Hill

John J. Hill, age 92, a Eastpointe resident, passed away November 27, 2020. John was a WWII Navy veteran. He was on USS Washington and USS Small Destroyers in the U.S. Navy and traveled the world. His rank in the Navy was Machinist’s Mate II. Mr. Hill worked at Grand Trunk Railroad for 43 years. Mr. Hill was a quiet, hardworking man. He loved his family dearly. He loved walking, gardening, poetry, John Wayne movies, Frank Sinatra’s music, garage sales and estate sales. He enjoyed meeting with the retirees of Grand Trunk Railroad for breakfast and coffee. Beloved husband of the late Helen for 67 years. Loving father of Linda Huckleby, Teresa Boyd, William (Clara) Hill of Kentucky, Robert (Leslie) Hill and Celia (Jeffry) Klausing. Proud grandfather of Regina, Edward, Katherine, Paula, Joseph, Laura, Julie and 8 greatgrandchildren. He will also be missed by his cat, Keekee. Predeceased by his daughter, Margaret Bokano; his granddaughter Dawn and his siblings Mercedes Kraft, Harold Hill, Fred Hill, Larry Hill, Mary Gault, Joseph Hill, Agnes Harb, Evelyn Dwyer and Edward Hill.
