Kathy was my baby sister.  I was so happy when my mother had a girl.  I took care of her as a baby.  I saw her take her first step at 9 months.  As she got a little older, she would get into my things and it would irritate me, but when her reason was that she just wanted to be close to me, it melted my heart. We called her Kaye or Kaye-Kaye when she was little.  When we moved to Englehardt, she wanted to reinvent herself and wanted to be called Kathy.  I had a hard time with it until Bob told me that we should respect her wishes.  So that’s when I started calling her Kathy.  I was so happy when she had Justin and proud that she trusted me enough to have him stay over for a weekend.  In later years, she would go with me to visit cousin Sharon in White Cloud, MI.  We had a lot of fun there.  We had a mission - to find the best ribs around.  We went to a lot of places and decided that Texas Roadhouse was the best.  We also loved Longhorn and could never get past ordering the Parmesan Crusted Chicken.  It was great!  She would always call me on Sunday to see how I was doing.  I enjoyed being with her on Mondays when she watched Mia and Wyatt.  She said it helped her even though I thought I really didn’t do anything except to be there.  She loved her grandchildren so much and was willing to spend as much time with them as she could.  She was always willing to help me.  I love her and will deeply, deeply miss her.  Joan

My name is Josie Syck I’m the sister of the late Darlene Mary Conner. I met Kathy when I was in my 20s working in a plastic shop we became friends very quickly. She was easy to like and even easier to love!! Her and I were talking in the lunchroom one day and she was telling me her brother was getting married I said oh that’s cool. My sister is getting married too soon!! her and I talked about this for about two or three weeks, and when it came time for my sister and my brother-in-law‘s wedding shower, I walked in and all of a sudden I looked, and there was Kathy or eyes met. we stared at each other for a minute, and then she said to me, “Jo what are you doing here “ I said this is my sisters wedding shower!! Kathy said you are kidding me this is my brothers wedding shower that’s when we realized my sister and her brother were getting married. I was overjoyed because now this wonderful friend that I had met at work. Was gonna be part of my family. Kathy and I hugged because we were so happy to see that it was my sister and her brother that were getting married after we talked about this for three weeks best wedding ever we had a great time. Life was so much easier but yeah that was 40 years ago. This is one of my best memories of all time just because I loved her brother Michael Conner he was and still is the best brother-in-law you could ever hope for, they are a great family and my heart broke when my brother in law called me to say God called Kathy home. All I could think of was her son Justin and her grandchildren that she loved more than life itself!! Kathy will be missed by many people starting with her son and grandchildren to the rest of her family and the family she worked with for many years. I love you Kathy and I will see you again on the other side.
