Celebrating the Life of Thomas Michael O’Bryan
With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Tom O’Bryan, who left us peacefully on January 16, 2026. A loving father, cherished grandfather, beloved brother, and loyal friend, he brought joy and laughter to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Born on April 2, 1954, in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, Tom was a gifted engineer earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geological Engineering, with High Honors, from Michigan Technological University, and a Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Wayne State University. His curiosity and ingenuity shaped not only his career, but also his approach to life. Beyond his technical brilliance, Tom found inspiration in the arts, was passionate about fine dining and music, was a world traveler, an avid golfer, loved cycling, and truly found solace in the beauty of the outdoors. Whether marveling at a painting, savoring a memorable meal, attending the Symphony, sipping on a Negroni, making a hole in one, traveling the world, or hiking a forest trail, Tom embraced every experience with enthusiasm and an infectious sense of wonder.
Tom’s quick wit and remarkable sense of humor lit up every room, effortlessly turning simple moments into treasured memories. He had an uncanny ability to balance the logical world with a deep appreciation for creativity and beauty, sharing both his wisdom and laughter generously with family and friends alike.
Tom was predeceased by his parents Edward and Nancy and is survived by his children, Brandon and Brittany; his grandchildren, Camden, Harper, and Finley; his siblings, Christine, James, and Gary; together with many relatives and dear friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts and memories.
Though he will be deeply missed, Tom leaves behind a legacy of love, patience, generosity, intellect, humor, and curiosity. His spirit will live on in every smile, every shared meal, every note of music, every swing of a golf club, and every step along a mountain path or river. We are forever grateful for the time we shared and will always carry his memory with us.
Rest peacefully, Tom. You are dearly loved and will never be forgotten.
