Billy Thomas Gay, 85, of Roswell, GA, passed away on April 13, 2016. Born and raised in Chamblee, GA, to Jesse and Evelyn Gay, Billy graduated from Chamblee High School. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in Korea. Bill had a long career with the Ryder Company, where he retired as Rail Road Supervisor. He was a member of the Alpharetta First United Methodist Church, Master Mason of the Chamblee Masonic Lodge, #444, and was affiliated with the VFW. Bill was a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Evelynn Joyce Gay; sister, Doris Moncrief and is survived by his children, William (Marie) Gay, Barbara (Michael) Durden; grandchildren, Ryan (Sarah) Layson, Scott (Sarah) Layson, Christina (Dwight) Guerrette, Catherine (Peter) Keaney, James Durden; great-grandchild, Ava Grace Layson; brother, Jesse (Melba) C. Gay, Jr..
Visitation will take place on Friday, April 15, 2016 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Roswell Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will follow on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 1:00pm with burial to follow at North Atlanta Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Billy’s name to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org.
