

Bud was born to the late Cullen Andrew Southard and the late Myrtie Lee Shirley Southard on April 4, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia. He grew up in Russell County. He was the youngest of three children, sisters Martha Neal Dorset and Sarah Blankenship.
Bud is preceded in death by his wife, Billie Stephens Southard and son, Calvin Benjamin (Ben) Southard Jr.
He is survived by daughter, Lea Southard Ciuba (Doug); daughter in law, Linda Hines Southard; grandchildren: Mary-Catherine Chitwood (Ryan), Hunter Davis Ciuba, Carsyn Page (Miller) and Chandler Mackenzie Ciuba, and great grandson, Reid Worley Chitwood; granddaughter, Delilah (Missy) Dawson (Craig), and great grandchildren Rhys and Rex Dawson.
Bud graduated from Russell County Highschool in East Point, Georgia. He served in the USAF, Legal Section during the Korean War in Japan. He graduated from Georgia State University with BBA and Law degree. After many years practicing law, he finished his career as an Administrative Law Judge.
He was a member of Northside Baptist Church since 1975, where he served as a deacon and adult Sunday School teacher.
Bud married the love of his life, Billie Stephens in May of 1951 in Victorville California.
The family will receive friends on Thursday November 17, 2022 from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM at Roswell Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1:00 in Roswell’s Chapel with Rick Jones officiating. Committal and burial will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery & Mausoleum.
