Carl “Alan” Edwards, age 74, of Johns Creek, GA passed away on May 23, 2026, at Wellstar North Fulton Medical Center after a prolonged illness. Alan was born on September 20, 1951, to Carl Henry and Annabelle Ferrell Edwards in Johnson City, TN.
He grew up in Johnson City, New Orleans, and Tucker, Georgia. He attended Tucker High School, Milligan University and Dekalb College.
Alan had a long career in the Heating and Air Conditioning business, beginning at Mingledorff’s HVAC Supply House and continuing as a sales engineer at such companies as RS Andrews, Shumate Heating and Air and Ful-Bro Heating and Air Conditioning for the last 20 years before retiring.
Alan enjoyed sports – football, the Braves and golf. He loved his two cats: Scooter and Toes.
He was married to Kay Robinson Bruner from 1976 until 1993 and they had three children: Ashley Edwards Puckett (Matt), Ryan Alan Edwards, and Erin Kay Woodall. Lovingly nicknamed Boog, Bud and Boose. His children will always carry the many teachings of self discipline, his love for learning something new every day and his ability to lighten the mood with a sarcastic joke.
He will be deeply missed by his partner of 33 years, Gray Black and her daughter Cara Grannan and two granddaughters: London and Bella. Also, his sister, Nancy Edwards Klein and many cousins and good friends.
