LTC Charles William Willey, born on the 4th of July, 1945 in Newark, OH, age 75, of Marietta, GA went to be with the Lord and the love of his life, Judith Ann Willey, on Sunday morning, November 8, 2020. Charles was a devoted son to Russell and Lelia Willey. He is survived by his children Kerri Campbell (Steve) of Raleigh, NC, and Laura White (John) of Roswell, GA, as well as his grandchildren Jacob (19) and Emily (16) Campbell, and Logan White (9). He is also survived by his cousin Mary Taylor of The Villages, FL, who was more like his sister.
Charles was best described as a natural. He excelled at most things he tried his hand at, but especially baseball as he played for the Cincinnati Reds. He was a true patriot who not only was born on the Fourth of July, but retired from the US Army as a Lieutenant Colonel. He was a classic American who loved not only baseball, but apple pie and ice cream, as well as golf and travel. Serving for our country was not the only thing that made him a hero; it was also the patience and love he had for his family. Charles was a man who always had time to listen. Though he would seldom speak, when he chose to do so it was very impactful. His belief that anything worth doing was worth doing well. He will be missed by his family and friends, who felt he made the world a better place. Charles left this life with true love in his heart, to be reunited with Judy, his loving wife for over half a decade, whom had preceded him in death exactly two months prior to his passing on September 8, 2020.
Charles will be cremated and rejoin his wife at their place of rest at the National Cemetery in Canton, GA. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Tranquility at Kennesaw Mountain Hospice, 475 Dickson Ave, Marietta, GA 30064, in his name
