Christine Ascher Evans, 89, of Big Canoe, GA passed away on Monday, October 17, 2022. She was born on January 30, 1933, in Carmel, Indiana. She was the wife of the late Roy A. Evans of Atlanta, and the daughter of Vernon W. Ascher and Frances L. Ascher. She received her degree from Northwestern University and a master’s from Georgia State University in Education. She was a flight attendant for Delta Airlines in her younger years and a teacher for Fulton County Schools in Atlanta for 21 years. She loved teaching fifth grade at Heards Ferry Elementary and enjoyed traveling with her friends throughout US and Europe. She loved the water, and you would find her near a pool or the ocean. She always had a passion of learning and a book in hand to read. She enjoyed playing bridge, gardening, and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving family include her brothers; Richard Ascher (Caroline) and Stephen Ascher (Cathy), children; Scott Evans, Craig Evans, Kim Anderson (Bob), and Mark Evans (Lyndi), grandchildren; Nicholas Evans, Ryan Evans, Hailey Evans, Paul Evans, William Anderson, Austin Anderson, Hayden Anderson, and many nieces and nephews. She will be cremated and buried next to her husband of 48 years in the City of Jonesboro Cemetery. A memorial service will be planned at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org/georgia.
