Colene Elizabeth Richards Richards Johnson

Colene Elizabeth Richards Johnson, age 93, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2013. She was born May 30, 1920 in Allen, Texas to Linzy Cecil and Ethel Howard Richards. She was a graduate of Allen High School, and attended North and East Texas State Universities, and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. She married Rev. Joe Carl Johnson on April 2, 1942.

She served with her husband as a missionary to Brazil from 1949 to 1956. As a minister's wife, she faithfully supported her husband in all of his ministries throughout their 59 years of marriage.

She grew up on a farm in North Texas, and was a loving, devoted daughter to her parents. She loved playing the piano, and served as a church pianist. She loved to sew, and made many clothes for both her daughters and herself.

She was a loving, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and kind to all. She was beloved by all her family and friends, and is deeply mourned and enormously missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Cecil Howard Richards. She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Johnson Zimmermann and Linda Marlene Johnson, three grandchildren, Phillip, Eleanor, and David Zimmermann, and two great-grandaughters, Zoe and Piper Zimmermann.

Funeral services will be Thursday, December 12th, at 2 PM at the First Baptist Church of Roswell with Rev. Jerry Tyler officiating. Visitation is at 1 PM at the church prior to the service.
