

David McFarland, age 71, unexpectedly passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025. David was born in September 1953, to Wilbur G. McFarland and Edeltraut Exner McFarland in Fort Knox, Kentucky. He’s predeceased by his parents and sister Diane McFarland Vittitow.
David McFarland was a beloved Son, Brother, Husband, Father, Uncle, and friend. He was known for his kind heart, humor, and warm smile. David loved spending time with his family, exploring new wines and spirits, playing tennis, golfing, fishing and hosting friends and family.
Throughout his life, David achieved many accomplishments in his career and touched the lives of countless individuals through his charm, whit, and his expertise in the spirits & wine industries.
David attended Western Kentucky University and is a graduate of the University of Louisville with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He was an avid Cardinal fan. He received his Master of Arts in Marketing from Webster University, where he met his wife.
David owned Iroquois Liquors for many years, before joining Brown Forman Corporation. David’s career with Brown Forman spanned 21 years. He lived in Chicago, Pensacola and settled in Atlanta.
He will be deeply missed by his wife Cathy, son Michael (Caitlin), daughter Katie, nieces Stephanie Slaughter, Kristin Slaughter, brother in law Steve Vittitow, sister in law Mitzie Dodge (Bruce), niece Hanna Duff, brother in law Ed O’Rourke (Rachel), nieces Jacque and Kim O’Rourke, nephew Brian O’Rourke (Lori), and brother in law Tim O’Rourke (Colleen), nephew Patrick O’Rourke (Paige), niece Kelly O’Rourke.
The family will receive friends during the Memorial Visitation at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Rd, Roswell, GA 30076 on Thursday, April 10, 2025, from 6:00-8:00 pm.
A funeral mass in memory of David McFarland will be held at St. Bridget Catholic Church 3400 Old Alabama Rd, Johns Creek, GA 30022 on Friday, April 11, 2025, at 2:00 pm.
There will also be a memorial mass in Louisville, Kentucky at The Church of the Ascension in the coming weeks for all of the family and friends there.
David’s departure leaves a large void in our hearts, but his legacy will forever be cherished.
