

On February 26, 1938 in Tallulah, Louisiana, handsome son named Edward Hunter III was born to James and Gertrude Hunter. Edward (Ed) was the fourth child to this union, and was raised on the Papa Hunter’s farm. This is where he was taught life lessons of education, teaching him the value of discipline, hard work and dedication.
He accepted Christ in his life at an early age and is currently a member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Roswell, Georgia. He graduated from Thomas Town High in Tallulah, Louisiana and went on to attend Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Math. While there, he became a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated.
Ed relocated to San Francisco with his parents and continued his education at Heald Business College. He went on to receive his Master of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering from Stanford University in Stanford, California.
Through his cousin Lucky he met to the woman of his life. In 1959, Ed married the love of his life, the most beautiful woman in his eyes, Judy Molette. From that union two children were born, Gaye and Edward (Eddie) IV.
During his employment with Ford Aerospace (Lockheed Martin), he worked on classified projects for the government taking him as far away as Thule Air Base in Qaasuitsup, Greenland. Ed’s career continued for over 35 years before he retired.
Ed and Judy moved from Los Gatos, California to Cumming, Georgia in order to be near their children and grandchildren. He took great pride in attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and was their biggest fan. His love for people allowed him to keep and maintain friendships for over 50 years. He shared his love and knowledge with all of his family and friends. A quiet warrior of God, a great husband, and an awesome father, and grandfather.
Everyone that knew Ed knew of his passion for golf. He was an avid golfer that could spend hours on the course. A proud member of the Spear Golf Club for decades and a member of the Polo Golf and Country Club in Cumming, Georgia. Ed never played 18 holes he didn’t love.
Edward Hunter III departed this life on November 7, 2015, after a long battle with Cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Clarence Hunter Sr. and Gertrude Hunter; four sisters, Beatrice Gertrude White, Jeanie Antoinette Carter, Geraldine Marie Gordon and Ementie Marie Monday; two brothers, Clarence James Hunter and James Clarence Hunter Jr.
Ed leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife Judy Hunter, of Cumming, Georgia; daughter, Gaye Phillips (Trent) of Alpharetta, Georgia; son, Edward Hunter IV (Charlette) of Roswell, Georgia; sisters: Dorothy Best of Castro Valley, California, Rutha Hunter of Pittsburg, California,
