She was born September 2, 1928, in Winchester, VA, and lived in Virginia, North Carolina and Maryland before moving to Sarasota in 1958. She graduated from the University of Virginia nursing school and was head nurse and supervisor of the orthopedic floor at Sarasota Memorial Hospital for 30 years. After retiring, she enjoyed volunteering at Mote Marine for almost 25 years. She was a member of St. Wilfred’s Episcopal Church.
Mrs. Bennett is survived by her daughter, Penny Blocker (Ray) of Atlanta, GA, step-daughter Ann Giles (Bill) of Tallahassee, FL, grandchildren Laura and Shawn Wilkes (Ft. Mill, SC) and Amy and Andrew Milburn (Waldorf, MD), great-grandchildren Addison Wilkes, Savannah Milburn, Jase Milburn and Kennedy Milburn, and nieces and nephews David, Martha and Scott Kennedy, Don, Sherry, Cole, Carson and Chloe Kennedy, and Karen, Grace, and Krystal Kennedy. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
