Erin Kathleen Molter (Kirby) age 57 of Woodstock, GA passed away on May 19, 2022 after a year long battle with ALS. She was born in Baton Rouge, LA on June 1, 1964. She was a graduate of Tara High School where she was a member of the Pacesetters dance team. She later graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in Mass Communication.
Erin grew up working at the Broadmoor Theater in Baton Rouge, owned by the Ogden family, where her grandmother Ethel Kirby worked as the manager. Many remember Erin’s smiling face behind the concession counter or her joking laughs with her cousin Colette Mitchell and her husband Jim along with their “Broadmoor Crew”. This inspired Erin’s love of feature films and pop culture. She loved hanging out with her brothers. Her oldest brother Robert was her protector and her younger brother Pat, was 11 months younger than her and was her “Irish twin”. Erin and her mom, Bobbye were two peas in a pod and they loved to say that the best of them was passed on to Erin’s daughter, Meagan.
After college, Erin moved to Atlanta and worked for Creative Loafing advertising. She met her husband of 31 years, Jeff Molter of Belleville, WI while working in Dayton, Ohio where they lived for two years. They moved back to Atlanta and made it their home.
Erin loved her LSU tigers and LSU football with a deep passion. All who knew her knew that you did not interrupt her on football Saturdays. She was a true “Cajun queen” as many called her. She adored the city of New Orleans and everything about it. She loved Mardi Gras, trying to take her kids as much as she could when they were growing up. A piece of her heart will always be in her home state of Louisiana. She kept her spunk and her humor until the very end and she always said, “ALS will never win and will never take away who I am.”
Erin worked at Queen of Angels Catholic School as the computer teacher for 19 years. She adored her students and all of the families. The light of her life were her two children, Meagan and Kyle. She loved being a mother above all and said they were always her greatest accomplishment.
Erin was a talented graphic designer, teacher, crawfish connoisseur, and music lover with her favorites being Jimmy Buffet, the Monkees and the Beatles. Her and Jeff’s favorite getaway was to Las Vegas to see the Beatles “LOVE” show at the Mirage or to the beach with their family friends. She loved watching all of the birds from her porch and had quite the set up on the deck for them with plenty of feeders and plants. She also loved snuggling up with her cat, Jessie who was by her side every second until the end. She was loved by many and will be missed by all that knew her.
Erin is preceded in death by her father, Bob L. Kirby. She is survived by her devoted husband, Jeff Molter. Daughter, Meagan (Chandler) Loupe of Baton Rouge, LA. Son, Kyle Molter of Tallahassee, FL.
