Ethel Gamao Bautista earned her angel wings on May 4, 2025 after her 4 month battle with pancreatic cancer. She valiantly battled a late stage cancer diagnosis, braving sustained medical treatment amidst multiple health complications. Ethel was a woman of principle, integrity, and humility and she always stood by her rights no matter what. Her contagious laugh always exemplified living life to the fullest and happiest.
She graduated from De La Salle University and emigrated in 1984 from the Philippines to live in the United States, settling in Los Angeles, CA for 35+ years before moving to Northeast Georgia with her family in the twilight of her life. Ethel was known as tenacious and meticulous in her work circles in various roles. She took pride in her work and accomplishments, such as working for the US embassy in Manila, University of Southern California, and Delta Air Lines, amongst others.
However, she has made it known her most proud accomplishment is her family. She married the love of her life, Albert, in July 1984 and together they constantly sought adventure. Their first adventure was building a family together and with God’s grace Lawrence, Lorraine, Laura, and Laurie were born. She encompassed all aspects of motherhood and more. A vibrant soul, Ethel always had the most beautiful smile to lighten any room. During difficult times, words of encouragement always felt like a bowl of hot soup on a rainy day to warm our hearts. Shortly after, she would add her comedic relief to revive our smiles and it worked every time.
Ethel has left everlasting footprints on the lives of those who had known her throughout her lifetime and those who had known her briefly. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching true crime drama shows, taking her dogs Tammy and Kiki for walks, as well as booking travel listings looking for her next adventure. We find comfort knowing her last and final adventure is exploring Heaven in all of it’s glory. She was most revered and admired, known as Mom, Mama, and Lola. Not only did she raise her children with the utmost love, she deeply loved her grandchildren and held them close and dear to her heart. She always showered them with praise, hugs, and endless gifts. As quick as she’d admit some occasional tumult, she would be just as proud to swiftly say that she lived a fulfilled life- that of chasing the American dream, raising a family, traveling, and enjoying life experiences with the love of her life.
A loving wife, devoted mother, endearing grandmother, protective sister, generous aunt, and caring friend, Ethel’s youthful spirit and legacy will continue to live through the beautiful memories we have created with her.
