Ethel and I were only three years apart in age so it made sense that I was the brunt of her practical jokes.  She inherited her incredible sense of humor from our father so there would be eye rolling and headshaking when either one was around
A budding entrepreneur with a kind heart, my fondest childhood memories of my sister include the time when she would sit behind a makeshift booth to sell sago at gulaman and Buchi while the rest of the children in the apartment complex played in the driveway and her rolling down the car window in the midst of traffic to give alms to a beggar as soon as she spotted one.  
Later, fearless as she was, she taught herself to ride a motorcycle and financed her four-year degree at a prestigious university in the Philippines with her hard-earned keep.  She and I shared a room in the last house that our family lived in before we migrated to the US. She taught herself how to play the guitar and her soft melodic voice would reverberate in the room. 
Over the years, Ethel and I grew closer especially since she made it a goal to visit me and my sons with her daughters in tow for a weekend at least once a year once we moved to Ohio.  
Ethel, with her enormous physical and emotional strength as well as a deep-rooted Catholic faith, has made the prospect of suffering and eventual death less daunting for me now.  One memory at the hospital that I shall forever treasure is when I held her hand for a moment before she let go to hold my hand instead.  
She was without flaws, but she lived her life the best way she knew how… to love and be loved in return.

I know Ethel from working at Delta Airlines, wonderful person. She was a hard worker like me and we both had two jobs. She was working for her family . I wanted to put in time so I can retire.  I worked at Kaiser Sunset and she worked at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. We would have lunch to catch up and she would have some fund rising offer I would buy because it was for her children. She knew I would always say yes without hesitation. 
 Another great memories were on the bus at night from terminal 5 to the parking lot . The ready  reserves had the  same off time , and riding with Vincent and the things he would joke about and seeing Ethel's face blush and laugh so hard.
Ethel went on to do other jobs within Delta , wanting to learn and grow . Gave me great advice and words of wisdom along the way . Leading me to the gates , and baggage service. 
Even after we both retired she continued to offer me advice  and wisdom.

This photo was taken during my wedding.. First, I was really hesitant to get her as to be our Ninang ( Major Sponsors), because might be she cant come due to her busy scheduled and might be she say NO. But still, I tried and she say YES.  And, sabi ko pa nga, baka di siya maka attend! But, to my surprise, she came with her daughters, she flew from USA to Philippines just to attend my wedding and to witness our vows.. Sabi nga nila ang lakas ko daw.. napauwi ko siya sa pinas.. They did not know, na our feelings that time was, we feel so blessed because she was there.. 

Those time, we talked thru messenger, I always asked her how are you po. Andshe never said anything about her condition. She just reply Im good and take care always. We were very sad when we hear the news. Might be she didnt mentioned because, she didnt want us, to worry about her, or might be she wanted us to remember her, those days that she was beautiful and strong. 

We and my family, always remember all the good deeds she have done..

Thank you for everything. And we will always remember you in our heart…
