Evelyn was born to the late Karl and Hilma Carlsen.
Evelyn spent her childhood in Chicago, Illinois graduating from Amundsen High School.
She fell for the most amazing man, David Ekstrom, Sr., and they were happily married for over 40 years. They were blessed to have and nurture four loving children: Susie, Linda, David Jr., and Nancy. The love they shared created memories that will be remembered and cherished forever.
Evelyn was a darling soul, always surprising the world, especially with her dancing. She was an exceptional ballroom dancer, collecting many accolades along the way. By far, being a mother was her greatest joy. She loved caring for her family; family was always first and most important. She was very proud of her Swedish heritage and showed it in her cooking. This was obvious at her Christmas Eve smorgasbord celebration, Including many Swedish delicacies. She would always say,” Invite someone who has no place to go”. Everyone loved to visit her home just to get a glimpse of her smile, loving spirit and good home-cooking and Swedish egg coffee.
She was truly a gem that will be missed by all that had the honor to know her.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents; Karl and Hilma Carlsen, her sister Maj; her Auntie Augusta and Auntie Mina and many relatives.
