

Grady R. Anthony, passed away on February 15, 2022, in Marietta, Georgia after a brief illness at the age of fifty-nine (59) years old. Although his passing was unexpected, he was surrounded by loved ones.
Grady was born on September 28, 1962, to Willie Dean Griggs and the late Frank Anthony. He was born and raised in Buffalo, NY. He was a stellar student and a top-notch athlete. He was educated in Buffalo, NY where he graduated from Genesee Humboldt Junior High School, Hutchinson Technical High School (Hutch Tech) and D'youville College with a degree in accounting. He was an honor student and was often awarded for academic excellence. In high school, he made WNY All-state Cross Country and Track. In 1979, Hutch Tech was undefeated champions in Cross Country and track where Grady served as Co-Captain. He continued his track career at Buffalo State College. Grady stayed fit and continued to run even after his track career was completed. He also played basketball for D'youville College. During his college years he joined the United States Army Reserve where he served several years.
He moved to Georgia in 1994 where he started his family. He was very active in his sons’ lives. He served as a Boy Scouts Leader and Soccer Dad. He was on the sidelines cheering for his sons in various sports in which they participated. He really loved and cared for his sons. In addition, Grady was a founding member, huge fan and season ticket holder of the Atlanta United Soccer Team.
Grady accepted Christ at a young age. He Loved the Lord! He was an active member of his church, Mt Paran North Church, where he served on the Men of Acts Committee. Grady loved his family! Spending time with family and friends made him happy. He was very kind and giving of his time and resources. He often played the handyman role for his mother and sisters when he visited his hometown. He was also available by phone to assist in any way that he could. He was a very dedicated employee. He gave 110% of himself to any position or task assigned.
Grady was always the life of the party. His dance moves will be remembered by all. Not to mention his corny jokes, he cracked himself up often. One thing you may not know, Grady loved to binge watch Hallmark Christmas movies. He and his sister Darlene coordinated their calendars in anticipation for the Christmas season to start. He loved live music, hiking, and whenever possible, he found his way to the beach to soak up some sun and/or to take a jog or a relaxing walk.
Grady’s memory will be cherished by his mother Willie Dean Griggs, two sons Alexander and David Anthony, his siblings Darlene Mitchell, Kenneth Carthon (Melanie), Sheila Renee Carthon. His niece's Taunisha Draudt (Nicholas), Tenika Goodwin (Damien), and Kemel Carthon. His only nephew Kenneth Carthon II. Great nephews Heru Aten, and the late Noah Draudt. Great nieces Gianna and Alyssa Goodwin, Madison, and Beth Draudt . His large extended family comprised of Uncles, Aunts and a host of Cousins. He also leaves behind his long-time childhood friend Patrick Washington (Carmen), and Michael Copeland (Glynis), as well as a myriad of other close friends. Grady R. Anthony will truly be missed.
