It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, and great grandfather Irving Feinberg on Monday January 29, 2018, and with great joy that we celebrate his life. Irving was a member of the Greatest Generation, serving in WWII for 3 ½ years as a corporal in the Signal Corps and Army Pictorial Service. His greatest accomplishments during the war was having created a means to identify roads in German- occupied France using photographs to facilitate finding secret targets for the Allies, and photographing the Battle of the Bulge, the liberation of the German concentration camp at Buchenwald, and the signing of the peace treaty at Reims, France. After the war, Irving married the love of his life, Fredda Lee Gershman, and embarked on a fifty year career in the photographic industry. He owned and operated many successful camera stores in the greater Philadelphia area, and was founder and president of the Delaware Valley Photo Dealers Association. Irving and his wife Fredda retired to West Palm Beach, Florida. After she passed, he moved to Johns Creek, Georgia, to spend time with his daughters Janice Hersch of Lawrenceville Ga and Phyllis Ullman of Woodstock Ga, sons-in-law Peter Ullman and Emanuel Loiacono Sr, five grandchildren and spouses Bill and Meredith Capelman, Robyn and Eric Belmonte, Vito and Helen Loiacono, Rachel and Jon Sirico, and Manny Loiacono Jr and eight great grandchildren James, Emma, Anthony, Logan, Dylan, Charley, Haley and Parker. Irving Feinberg was the recipient of two Bronze Stars by the United States Army and was knighted by the French government in 2013 at which time he was awarded the Napoleon Medal of Honor for his exemplary service. We thank you Dad, Grandpa, and Poppy Irv for the gift of life and for your love, for the steadfast standard of integrity and dedication to your family and nation, and for being the kind of human being that our children and grandchildren aspire to be.
In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the Jewish War Veterans of the United States of America in his memory.
