On December 3, 2003, the most beautiful baby boy, Jabril Abdul Blount, was born to Shameeka Riddick and John Blount in Atlantic City, New Jersey. He departed this life on February 5, 2025, in Marietta, Georgia.
Jabril was fathered and loved by James Smith during his marriage to Shameeka. They went on to have two brothers for Jabril, Jahmir and James, to whom he was an amazing big brother and spoke of often.
In the sixth grade, Jabril met his best friend, Trent Martin, who had just moved to Atlanta, Georgia from Rhode Island. Jabril helped Trent integrate into a new school and sports teams which made the two become inseparable, and Jabril quickly became a part of the Martin-Moor family.
Jabril was a loving son to Patricia Martin and Chris Moor. He was considered and treated as one of the M&M kids, Martin-Moor, and loved being so. Jabril was the family confidant and was the one who kept Trent out of “some” trouble and taught Tripp to drive. He had infinite patience with Tripp wanting to drive his car and allowed it daily. He was always up to chauffer Tripp from school to dance and back again, plus was most likely to take Tripp on a snack run.
Jabril, Grace, and Tripp went on a Florida beach adventure this past summer. They stayed at a VRBO, played on the beach, and had fun telling a waitress it was Tripp’s birthday to get a piece of cake. Jabril and Grace also went together for tattoos while in Florida. They tried to sneak tattoos back into the M&M house (they were busted). Jabril had entered the household grandfathered in with two existing tattoos, one of which said “Born2Ball” on his arm and Chris made fun of it every day. Chris was fond of telling Jabril he needed to change the tattoo to “Born2Ballet.”
Jabril and Grace shared a love of cats. Grace “helped” him find and adopt a cat. He loved his cat, Strauss, and was the best cat dad but not always fantastic at scooping the litter box. He loved his clapped-out Honda Civic; which is a right of passage in the Martin-Moor family. Jabril spent many hours adding special touches to his car. Patricia initially hated how loud the car was, but Travis Martin had given him the exhaust package and Jabril absolutely loved it, plus the family came to love hearing Jabril coming home. We will miss that sound very much.
Brayden and Jabril loved playing – or attempting to – play golf together. They hit the golf range many times, but their best memory was where the golf cart wouldn’t move up the hills on the course. They ended up having to tenaciously push the golf cart up the hills in the rain. They bonded over their love of video games and often played Call of Duty together, and Jabril was known to stay up late playing 2k with his brothers Jahmir and James on a nightly basis.
Patricia was often asked if Trent and Jabril were twins and was always tickled by it. Trent often ran with that narrative and just said that their hair was the only difference. Trent and Jabril shared a love of sports, attended football camps together, and then both attended the University of Alabama together. Jabril met Trent’s girlfriend, Mary Ashleigh Lofton, while they were at the University of Alabama together, and always considered her one of the guys. They were all known to be a small tribe doing together everything from football games, friends’ houses, and going to eat at their favorite place, Chipotle.
Jabril graduated Holy Spirit Catholic High school in Absecon, NJ. He attended the University of Alabama, before moving back to his Georgia home with Chris and Patricia to attend Lincoln Technical School to become an electrician.
Jabril had a kind face, a beautiful smile and soft demeanor. He had the best facial expressions, was quiet, but always comforting and present. He was always consistent on wanting to show up for his family, but not always on time. The family was known to fib to him about start times of events in order to get him there on time. He loved a good vacation. He sky-dived with Patricia & Chris over the Florida Keys and wanted to do it again. Jabril has the distinction of winning the most consecutive ‘Child of the Month’ awards in the Martin-Moor household; a record that stands til this day.
Jabril is survived by two loving families. His Georgia parents Patricia and Chris, his sister Grace, brothers Trent, Tripp and Brayden. His mother, Shameeka Riddick, his beloved grandmother Toknwa Riddick, brothers Jahmir and James; and a host of extended family and friends in both Georgia and New Jersey.
In memory of Jabril, a GoFundMe page has been set up to create an education fund for his younger brothers Jahmir and James.
