

James Gregory Painter of John’s Creek, Georgia, passed away at home on April 16, 2020. Jim was born December 11, 1950 in Kansas City, Kansas, to Elizabeth Walls Painter and Clarence Painter. He attended Blessed Sacrament School, graduated from Ward High School. He received his AA at Pittsburgh State, and his BA in Business from Rockhurst College. He attended Savior of the World Seminary in Kansas City, Kansas, and St. Johns Vianney Seminary in Elkhorn, Nebraska. Jim served his country in the Army National Guard.
Jim was retired. His working career included; 1981 - Area Manager GE Silicone, division of GE Plastics. Jim, through his close association handling the Home Depot account, moved to GE Lighting in the 90’s. With the support of Home Depot, Jim became the GE corporate manager of all GE businesses at Home Depot worldwide. Jim was immensely successful, endearing GE with Home Depot, and growing into numerous new businesses at Home Depot. Jim was very involved with GE charitable organizations, as well as representing GE on the board of City of Hope. Later, Jim joined the Masco brand as president, liaison of all Masco companies to Home Depot. Masco was the single largest supplier to Home Depot. Jim semi-retired, and became a valuable resource as business consultant to numerous manufacturers throughout the consumer goods industry.
Jim enjoyed gardening, home remodeling, and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed coffee and conversation with his many friends near his homes in John’s Creek and St. Augustine, Florida.
Jim was generous, loving, hard-working and enjoyed a close relationship with the Lord.
James Painter is survived by; wife Crystal Whitney Painter; son Steven Craig Duke (Lori) of Kansas City MO; daughter Lindsay Norman (Hayne) of Atlanta; grandchildren Taylor, Matthew, Zachary, and Ryan Duke, and Grayson Norman; great grandson Kaden Peoples; brother Dick Painter of Kansas City KS; sister Katheryn Mantooth of Kansas City KS; several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his name be made to the City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center, 1500 East Duarte Road, Duarte, CA 91010.
He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
