Jeanne was born in Evanston Illinois on September 23rd 1930 to Alice Bakula Michel. She graduated from Evanston Township Highschool in 1948, and began her career as an editorial researcher at Rand McNally and Company in Skokie, Illinois. It was there she met the love of her life, Russ Voisin. Jeanne and Russ married on April 12th, 1958 at St.Jerome’s in Chicago. After moving to Highland Park, Illinois they welcomed two daughters, Suzanne and Janet.
Jeanne excelled at gardening and flower arranging. She loved the Chicago Botanic Gardens, Northwestern Football, WGN Radio, and summer concerts at Ravina. Jeanne was an avid reader and completed the NYT crossword puzzles in ink. Jeanne doted on her two Cocker Spaniels and multiple rescue cats. An adventurous traveler, with her husband by her side, they almost saw it all. Kenya, Nepal, Fiji, and The Cotswolds were some of her favorites. But to Jeanne, nothing trumped watching the sun set from the deck of their second home in Dauphin Island, Alabama with Russ at her side. Jeanne also lived in Bloomington, Illinois and Roswell, Georgia before moving into a senior living community.
Jeanne served on multiple boards and volunteered her talents and time to many organizations. Ravina Garden Club and Chairing Conge at Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart were two of her favorites, where she made life long friends.
Jeanne had many difficult health issues over the past decade, but never lost her sense of humor. She was extremely appreciative of the healthcare teams assisting her. When she decided to move to hospice care and was told that meant no more needles, no more tests-her response? ‘Well, hot damn!’
Jeanne is survived by her husband of 65 years, Russell ; her children Suzanne Kinsella (James) of Bloomington, Illinois, Janet Purcell (Michael) of Milton, Georgia. Grandchildren Jack, Joe (Hanna) Patrick, Tom, James and Caroline Kinsella; Megan Purcell Hoerr (Austin) Tommy and Will Purcell and great granddaughter Norah Jeanne Kinsella
