Jerry was a beloved husband to Phyllis H. Stephenson. They met in high school and married after college in Raleigh, N.C. on June 6, 1965. He started his career in 1966 when he joined IBM. He was a well respected and a dedicated employee. He was acknowledged multiple times during his 35-year tenure with IBM. During the 35 years, they moved from Raleigh, N.C., Brentwood TN, and settled in East Cobb/Roswell. Jerry was a devoted and loving husband and father. He was filled with integrity, kindness, thoughtfulness and was a very caring person.
Jerry was an amazing husband of 59 plus years, to Phyllis, father of Joe and Christa, and a friend to many. He was a man of faith and was a member of Roswell United Methodist Church. He enjoyed golf, Georgia football, Braves baseball, travelling, and grilling on the deck. Among his favorite places to spend time was their home at St. Augustine Beach. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was always available to talk, lend a hand, and share a laugh.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Phyllis; his son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Kathy Stephenson; Kathy’s daughter, Hannah (Martin and Matyas) Kaplan; his brother, Bruce Stephenson of Florida; sisters, Jackie S. Humphreys of California, and Cindy S. Rodriguez (Richard) of Florida; nieces, Julie H. King and Jayde S. McCullough; and nephews: Jon Humphreys, and Michael and Philip Roderiguez. And his special little buddy Charlie. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Christa Stephenson; parents, Ray and Christine Stephenson; and his in-laws, Zeb and Christine Ham and Vance Ham.
A memorial service will be held in the Chapel at Roswell United Methodist Church on February 13, 2025, at 1 PM to celebrate Jerry’s life and accomplishments and honor his contributions to our world. A reception will be held immediately after the service in the church Parlor.
In lieu of flowers, you might consider donations in Jerry’s name be made to The American Diabetes Association or the National Kidney Foundation.
Jerry’s departure leaves a void in our hearts, but his legacy will forever be cherished.
What we have once enjoyed we can never lose,
All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.
