After graduating from Fulton High School in 1952, Joann began dating the love of her life, Jack Hunt. On March 19, 1954, she and Jack were married and lived devoted to one another for the next 71 years. During this time, she worked in scheduling for Delta Airlines. Once she and Jack started a family, Joann dedicated herself fully to raising their three sons and creating a warm, loving home.
Joann enjoyed singing in the church choir. She also found joy in gardening, baking cookies, and preparing delicious Southern meals. She also loved hummingbirds.
In 1987, Jack and Joann bought a home in Hartwell, Georgia and moved there full time in 1993. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hartwell. In 2023, they moved to Decatur, Georgia to be closer to their children.
Her strong and unashamed faith in God was central to her life. Joann was an active member of the Gideon Auxiliary and took great joy in sharing God’s Word, often giving out Bibles to those in need. She loved fiercely, lived sacrificially, and poured her heart into those around her.
Joann cherished her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was her pride and joy, and she leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and faith.
Joann is survived by her devoted husband, Jack Hunt; sons, Jeff Hunt (Beth), Joe Hunt (Michele), and Dave Hunt; her treasured grandchildren, Mary Lyndall Hunt, Jack Hunt, Lizzie Hunt, Chelsea LaPointe (Ron), Hannah Alderson (Mike), India Hunt, and Kari Hunsaker (Nick); and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Wanda McCoy.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 28, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Roswell Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel, officiated by Stewart Lang. A celebration of life service will be held in Hartwell, Georgia, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Gideons International or First Baptist Church of Hartwell
