Joyce was born in Atlanta, Georgia to Pem and Norma Curry. She was the baby of the family with two older brothers. At age three, she saw her dad off to fight in the South Pacific during WWII, and happily welcomed him home 3 years later.
Her family moved to Nashville, Tennessee when she was 15. She attended Hillsborough High School, where she met the love of her life, Benjamin “Ben” Bracy. They were married two years later when they were just 17.
Joyce loved being a wife to Ben and a mother to their three children, Chip, Debbie and Lee. She was a stay at home mom, Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, involved with the church, and she and Ben were co PTA Presidents. She loved a party, having friends and neighbors over for meals, playing bridge or just being together.
Never shying away from hard work, Joyce started her professional career at age 32. She worked in several administrative roles until settling into a career in medical office management. She finally decided to retire at age 81. She and Ben both worked hard to make sure their family had everything they needed.
When Joyce was 58, one of her greatest loves came along, her baby granddaughter Mackenzie! She loved that baby like nobody’s business and would spend hours playing Barbie, teaching her to cook, letting her explore how to apply makeup, making up games to play and of course, spoiling her completely rotten!
Joyce loved to cook. She especially loved to make desserts. She loved to play bridge and entertain family and friends. Once she got her iPad, Joyce became a huge fan of online shopping, buying anything she could think of and having it delivered. Always a dog lover, she became a Yorkie owner and raised several. Oh how she did love her Yorkies!
Joyce is survived by her daughter Debbie and her husband Jonathan, their daughter Mackenzie, her daughter in law Teri and her little Yorkie Muffin.
