Whenever you met Judy Charles, you were sure to be greeted by a smile. Whenever she entered a room she brightened it with her warmth and happy disposition. Surrounded by her son and daughter, Judith Ann (Hazlewood) Charles, age 74, of Marietta, Georgia passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 16, 2021. Judith was born December 2, 1946 in Humboldt, Tennessee, to Marshall and Corinne Hazlewood. She attended school at Brevard Junior College, graduating cum laude with an associate of arts degree. A member of Pi Theta Kappa honor society, she received a degree in business education from Florida State University where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta, Pi Omega Pi, and Fashion, Incorporated.
She had a career with Delta Air Lines which she began in 1968 and flew for over 51 years where she had many longtime friends and loved to travel with her daughter Liz. Survivors include her sister, Mrs Jane Sale of Dalton, her niece Mrs Robin Gray, her nephew Mr. Jason Sale, and her beloved children, Rick and Liz Charles .
A member of First United Methodist Church of Marietta, she enjoyed her retirement by traveling to the beach, going out to lunches with her friends and daughter, helping others in any way possible. She also loved frequenting the antique stores in the area because "you just never know what you might find".
Judy was the epitome of class, poise, vibrancy, kindness, and compassion. She never met a stranger, always believed in helping others, and loved everyone like it was the last time she would see them. An incredibly strong woman, she paved the way for what being independent looks like in life. She took care of business whether it was flying planes full of passengers or tending to her kids and all of their challenges and accomplishments in life. She was an incredible mother, friend, flight attendant, confidant, and mentor. Her colleagues remember Judy for her vibrancy, wit, sense of humor, class, and ability to always have fun in any situation.
Judy would not want you to mourn her death, she would want you to celebrate your own life in honor of hers and to not take life for granted because it is far too short. She would take pride in seeing her friends and family smile, laugh, joke, and "party it up" in remembrance of her.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.roswellfuneralhome.com for the Charles family.
