Kevin Marc Reinecke, beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, entered the presence of the Lord on August 26, 2024, after a hard-fought, brave battle with cancer. At only 41 years old, his time on earth was too short – but his impact and legacy are great.
Kevin was born on July 31, 1983, to Linda and Marc Reinecke. He was the perfect completion to the family, joining his older sisters, Meredith and Allison. The Reineckes were always a close family, enjoying and prioritizing time together. Kevin was the joy and light that brought the family to life; his crazy antics, funny songs, and tender heart made his parents and sisters laugh (even when they were mad) and proud to call him their own.
Kevin graduated from Lassiter High School in 2002 and Auburn University in 2006 as a Lambda Chi Alpha and with a bachelor’s degree in finance. He was hired for his first job out of college by Ferguson Waterworks, and he stayed with them for the entirety of his career. Ferguson was more than a job; it was another type of family for him. He loved being out on calls, meeting new people, and developing relationships with colleagues and clients. The qualities that made him a great man also made him exceptional at sales and a respected manager.
Growing up, Kevin was an active member of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, where two very important things happened: He gave his life to Jesus, and he met Kirby Brown, who he gave his heart to forever at the age of 17. They dated through high school, separate colleges, and were married on June 23, 2007. Kevin would tell you it was definitely the best decision he ever made; it was his greatest honor to be Kirby’s husband. Kevin and Kirby took their love of family and grew their own. His children, Charlie, Sam, and Sadie, were the joy of his life; his conversations were filled with stories of them and the accompanying smile on his face was an obvious sign of his pride and his love. His love for Kirby and his children was the driving force behind everything he did. He was a devoted husband and a wonderful father who continuously put his family first, always telling them how much they were loved, but also constantly demonstrating that love through his actions.
Kevin will always be remembered for his witty humor and presence that would fill a room. He never met a stranger because he genuinely enjoyed talking with people and learning their stories; he met people where they were and made everyone feel important and cared about. He will be remembered as someone who was quick to laugh, quick to help, and quick to pray.
Kevin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jackie and Weston Dixon; and his great-aunt and uncle, Sadie and Carl Tucker. He is survived by his wife, Kirby, and their three children, Charlie (12), Sam (10), and Sadie (7); parents, Linda and Marc Reinecke; sisters, Meredith Hill (Scott) and Allison Hodge (Jason); nieces and nephew (Elizabeth, Molly, and Weston); in-laws, Beverly Van Fleet (Bob), Doug Brown, Mackenzie Brown, Fran and Jim Fuchs; and extended family and friends too numerous to name.
Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church Alpharetta on Friday, August 30, 2024. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00-11:00 AM, prior to the service at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Reinecke Children’s Educational Fund: www.ugift529.com, code P6P-Z5S.
