Lois Mary Berberich

Lois was born on a farm near Earling, Iowa May 15, 1936. Her parents were Ambrose and Erma Coenan Muenchrath. Lois was baptized at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earling and attended St Joseph’s Grade School and High School. She received the sacraments of Penance, First Communion and Confirm at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Her favorite activity growing up was caring for her favorite horse and riding it. Upon graduation Lois went to Mount St. Scholastica College in Atchison Kansas, where she received her teacher certification. More important, it was at the Mount that she met her future husband Bill Berberich. After Bill’s graduation from St Benedict’s College they were married at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earling on June 22, 1957. Lois and Bill had five children: Michelle, Bill, Jr., Steve, Anne and Susan. Lois was very involved in their schooling. Lois particularly enjoyed attending her children’s extracurricular activities and cheering for them. Her children fondly remember waking up on Saturday morning to the smell of freshly baked bread and cinnamon rolls. Lois loved cooking and baking for her family and friends. She very much enjoyed playing golf and was particularly proud of her 4 hole-in-ones. Later in life she and Bill retired to San Destin Florida and traveled the world, seeing 86 different countries. They had many adventures along the way including sailing down the Amazon River, traversing the Panama Canal and going on an African safari. Bill and Lois had a great love for each other, their family and their faith. Lois was a loving and caring mother and grandmother to her 5 children, 16 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Lois is proceeded in death by their daughter Michelle and their grandson Christopher.
