Lorine Henderson was born on January 27, 1954, in a small town in Mississippi and was raised in Chicago, Illinois, where her faith, strength, and compassion were nurtured from an early age. On February 14, 2026, she peacefully transitioned from this life, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and unwavering devotion to God and family.
Lorine had a deep passion for education and lifelong learning. She attended Malcom X College, where she met the love of her life, Leonard Henderson Jr. She furthered her studies at the University of Illinois Circle Campus and later became a proud member of Alpha Sigma Lamda Sorority, serving as part of the chapter at Ashford University. Her dedication to academic excellence led her to achieve her Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration and become a licensed Nurse Practitioner. She devoted her professional life to caring for others, serving with skill, compassion, and integrity.
While Lorine valued education, her greatest devotion was to her faith. She gave her life to Christ at an early age and remained steadfast in her walk with the Lord. She was a faithful member of Christian Tabernacle Church on the south side of Chicago, where her beloved godparents, Lue and Frank Tuggle, were members. There, she served diligently as Pastor Maceo Woods’ nurse, and both of her children were baptized and raised in the church under her loving guidance.
Later in life, Lorine relocated to Atlanta with her son, where she became an active member of Providence Community Baptist Church. Continuing her life of service, she once again served as the pastor’s nurse and faithfully participated in numerous ministries, always ready to lend a helping hand and offer a comforting word.
Lorine will forever be remembered for her kind heart, gentle spirit, loving words of encouragement, and her unwavering love for God and her family. She was a pillar of strength, wisdom, and grace — a woman who poured into others selflessly and faithfully.
She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved children, Donica Tribue and Leonard Henderson; her treasured grandchildren, Aerial Johnson, Sebastian Thornton, Sahm Martin, Laylahni Henderson, Nikko Henderson, Jocelyn Soliz, and Cecily Soliz; and her precious great-grandchildren, Kadence Johnson and Kendrick Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her best friend and sister-cousin Ann Jones; her sisters, Linda Lewis (Evans) and Barbara McKinnie, who now welcome her into eternal rest.
Her love was steadfast. Her faith was unshakable. Her impact was eternal.
