Margaret Mary (Margie) Styslinger Yount, 91 years old, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Thursday, March 30, 2023 in Roswell, GA. She is survived by three children: Margaret Yount Hattman of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Arthur White Yount, Jr. (Reagan) of Brentwood, TN, and Rebecca Lee Yount Sibley (Chris) of Roswell, GA, and seven grandchildren: Michael and Maggie Hattman, Meredith and Arthur III Yount, and Madison, Catherine and Christopher Sibley.
Born in Birmingham, AL on January 19, 1932 to parents Margaret Mary McFarland and Leo Joseph Styslinger Sr., Margie attended St Paul’s Elementary followed by Sacred Heart Academy in Cullman, Alabama, where she graduated at 16 and where the Catholic faith instilled in her by her parents was cemented into a life-long devotion. She graduated at 20 from the University of Alabama and then worked in Finance and Accounting for Altec, the business founded by her father, until she met her devoted husband Arthur White (Art) Yount. They married in 1959 and shared 57 wonderful years until his passing in 2016.
After spending their first three years of marriage in Pikeville, KY, they moved to North Palm Beach, FL, where Art served as the first Internist/Cardiologist in the area and practiced for fifty years. Margie was his business administrator, handling all of the accounting and personnel management for his medical practice. Margie was heavily involved in several philanthropic organizations and contributed to dozens of charities on a regular basis. She remained in North Palm Beach enjoying her two Florida grandchildren until they were both driving. Margie then moved to St. George Village, a Catholic community in Roswell, GA, in 2019 to be close to her three young Georgia grandchildren and where she could easily visit her two young Tennessee grandchildren. During her final four years, she was able to continue practicing her faith at St George Village thanks to the wonderful on-site priests who would come to her when she could not get to Mass.
Margie savored travelling the world with her husband and children. She also loved boating to and snorkeling in the Bahamas and then later the Florida Keys. She enjoyed growing orchids in her fruit trees and arranging and displaying flowers everywhere she went. She was known for her wonderful smile, constant faith and optimism, abundant energy, sharp wit, and the many incredibly fun and delicious parties she so elegantly threw in her home. Margie will be greatly missed by all of her children, grandchildren, and loved ones, on whose behalf she never ceased to pray and who were so deeply attached to and grateful for her.
Margie was predeceased by her husband Arthur White Yount, parents, Lee Styslinger, Sr. and Margaret, and her two brothers, Lee Styslinger, Jr. and William McFarland (Bill) Styslinger. She is survived by her three devoted children and seven beloved grandchildren.
