

MACHADO, Mildred “Mimi”, 70, of Alpharetta, Georgia passed away on January 4, 2015. Visitation for family and friends will be held at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Road in Roswell, on January 10 at 11:00am. A prayer service will be held at the same location beginning at 11:45am. Mimi was born in Santiago, Cuba, to Augusto R. Sigarreta and Lydia Peña on December 24, 1944.
She obtained an Associates Degree in office administration in Puerto Rico prior to immigrating to the United States, with her husband, Mario. She proudly obtained her U.S. citizenship in 1970. After a 20 year career with the airline industry as an exemplary executive assistant, she retired from Mexicana Airlines and Swiss Air in 1996.
She enjoyed life to the fullest, traveling the world with her husband, family and friends.
She loved the beach, motorcycle riding, boating and being with her family. She adored her eight grandchildren who lovingly called her “Nana”. She will be remembered by them as attending their activities, playing games, joking around and taking much interest in just about everything they were doing.
Mimi is preceded in death by her husband, Mario Machado and her parents Augusto R. Sigarreta and Lydia Peña. Mimi is survived by her children Mario of Roswell GA, Roy of Dallas TX and Leticia of Dunwoody GA. She is also survived by her brother Augusto J. Sigarreta of Miami FL and eight grandchildren. Surviving also are nephews Carlos Padial Jr and Martin Padial of Baton Rouge LA, Andre Padial of Dunwoody GA and niece Marietta Murphy of Memphis TN. She is also survived by many great nephews and great nieces. Donations can be made to her favorite charity, North Fulton Community Services.
