Nicholas Joseph Pittarelli, born in Johnson City, N.Y. and long time resident of Alpharetta, Ga., age 78, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 31st, after a 5 year courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia.
He served in the United States Air Force in the U.S. as well as Viet Nam, and his military specialty was as a jet engine mechanic. Upon his return to the states, he was employed by Delta Air Lines in the same capacity.
He then went onto work in various sales and marketing positions. Over 25 years ago, he partnered with a friend establishing their own National Chemical Manufacturing Company. His passion for the quality and integrity of the products as well as new product development contributed to the growth and success of the business.
A few of his interests included football, playing golf and music. He also loved good food and fine wine which lead him to become an avid cook. He was always trying new dishes and would get excited when he came up with something unique and had to immediately tell someone about it.
His intellect and great sense of humor was evident throughout his life. Even during his dementia, he would deliver some very funny, dry witted one liners, resulting in waves of laughter. His caregivers loved his humor and how he would make them laugh.
He was full of life and gregarious, loving times with family and friends and making people laugh. No matter where he went, there was usually someone who knew him calling out “Hey Nick”!
Nick was a wonderful son, brother, husband and friend, who will be missed beyond measure.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
