Norman graduated from Wagner College with both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Science in Education, and a Master of Journalism from Columbia University, and went on to build a distinguished career marked by intellect, integrity, and dedication. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy as a reporter. He worked for numerous organizations throughout his life, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
A passionate historian, Norman authored nineteen historical books, approaching his writing with objectivity and a respect for truth. His love of history and dedication to factual, unbiased reporting were central to who he was, both professionally and personally. He was also a member of the Roswell Masonic Lodge.
Norman is survived by his daughter, Nicole Black; his grandchildren, Drew Ray, Ian Taylor, Gavin Taylor, and Lena Taylor; and his brothers, Donald Black and John Black.
A visitation will be held on January 31, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Rd, Roswell, GA 30076. The service will follow at 12:00 p.m.
