

Phillip Whitefield, born on May 26, 1946, passed away on March 14, 2025. Throughout his life, Phil was known by those who loved him for his quick wit and good sense of humor. His interests were varied and his love for life was infectious.
He enjoyed the simple pleasures; a Grouper sandwich, a glass of Jack and water, and the music of Frank Sinatra could always bring a smile to his face. Phil was a fan of Western Classics and could frequently be found watching his favorite TV show, 'The Waltons'. He loved to read books by Louis L'Amour.
Phil's love for collecting was well known. His fascination with coins, stamps and other memorabilia led to an extensive and cherished collection. He was a true fan of Atlanta United Soccer, and his spirit was always high when he attended games. His favorite game to play, however, was Canasta.
In his younger days, Phil was an Army staff sergeant in the SVC. Btry, 2nd Pershing Missile Battalion during his military service from 1967-1970. One of his responsibilities was programming and testing the navigation system of the Pershing Missile. His commitment and dedication during this period served as a testament to his character.
Phil loved his family deeply. He is survived by his wife, Nina Whitefield, daughters Madeline Scott and Elizabeth Scarborough, Granddaughter, Ryann Scott, and brothers Dennis and Daniel Whitefield. He considered his greatest accomplishment to be his family.
Phillip's favorite color was blue, perhaps mirroring the tranquility and depth of his own personality. He enjoyed visiting Cumberland Island, in Georgia, which was among his most loved vacation spots. Phil was keen on Western Art and appreciated its beauty and artistry.
Phillip will be laid to rest with military honors on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at 11:30AM at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA.
Phillip's life was a testament to his enduring spirit and love for his family. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
