

Bobby attended Lakeside High School in Decatur, Georgia where he was a varsity basketball player. Bobby received a Bachelor of Business Administration Management Information Systems in 2000 from the University of Georgia.
After college, Bobby began his career with Lithonia Lighting /Acuity Brands Lighting where he was employed for 10 years. In 2010, he began working for Cox Automotive where he continued his career serving as Director, Project Management or, as his boss called him, “The Guy That Always Made Everyone Feel Awesome.”
In April 2002, Bobby married the love of his life, Ellen Carlson Bristow. Bobby and Ellen were married for 22 years, and he was the beloved father to Jack, Sawyer, and Owen Bristow (and, Benny the Dog).
Bobby was the epitome of the engaged father, having coached all three of his boys in soccer and basketball. He never missed a soccer, lacrosse, or basketball game. His boys were his joy, and his pride was palpable when he spoke about them.
Bobby was a beloved friend to countless and a renowned member of his community, especially in the Lassiter Lacrosse and Basketball family. He was an equally loving “Uncle B” to his numerous nieces and nephews. He was also loved and admired by the numerous health care staff who cared for him throughout his treatment and continued to visit him while in hospice. He was so grateful for the outstanding care he received.
Bobby was an avid grill master, gardener, cook, technology enthusiast and Costco patron. He was a diehard UGA fan and loved the Dawgs’ run the last few years.
Bobby will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, co-workers and community. His sense of humor and kindness were legendary and for so many, Bobby Bristow will remain, “The Guy That Always Made Everyone Feel Awesome.”
Bobby is survived by his wife Ellen Carlson Bristow and 3 boys, Robert J. Bristow III “Jack”, Sawyer and Owen Bristow, his father, Robert J. Bristow (Sharon Lynch) brother, Michael Bristow (Kimberly Barron), brother-in-law, Kevin (Christa) Carlson, sisters-in-law, Karin (Lionel) Williams, Betsy (Stephen) Weyandt, parents-in-law, Linda and Ted Carlson, his nieces and nephews, Ella, Cameryn, Drew, Nicholas, Emma, Madeline, and Ava as well as many cousins, aunts and uncles. Bobby is preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Bristow and sister-in-law Tera Bristow.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2024 from 4-7 p.m. at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, GA 30076. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, July 29, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Transfiguration Catholic Church, 1815 Blackwell Road, Marietta, GA 30066.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Winship Sarcoma Fund in memory of Bobby.
