Robert Phaon Hitchcock, 92 of Alpharetta departed this life on December 14, 2011. Robert was born on April 10, 1919 In Hiram GA, a son of the late Gresham and Vada Austin Hitchcock, he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years Dorothy Thompson Hitchcock. Robert was a Army WWII Veteran, worked 36 years for Transus Transportation Company, he was a Sunday School teacher and Deacon at Mt. Zion Baptist Church for many years. He is survived by his son and daughter in law, Kevin and Patricia Hitchcock, Canton, GA, daughters and son in law, Lane Pease, Alpharetta, GA, Robin Hitchcock and David Underwood, Decatur GA; grandchildren, Manley Hitchcock, Canton, GA, Dana Underwood, Decatur, Zelda and Lucy Pease, Alpharetta, GA; numerous nieces and nephews.. A Memorial service to celebrate the life of Robert P. Hitchcock, will be held on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at 3:00 PM with Rev. Scott J. Seeke officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his beloved Dorothy at Green Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one prior to the service with a reception to follow the service.
