

Roy Claude Navy, Jr., 92, died on June 13, 2016, of congestive heart failure with his family by his side. He was still living at his Marietta residence. Roy was born November 19, 1923, in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was the only son with five sisters. Roy was a wonderful, optimistic, loving and encouraging husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He graduated from Carolina Business School. Roy worked for Columbia Pictures in his early sales career, and retired as an Architectural Representative with W.R. Grace, winning many awards. He also served as an Arbitrator. Roy was president of the Hi-Weaver Sunday School class at Roswell UMC for many years and served in various volunteer positions at the church. He was a Sergeant in the Army Air Force during World War II. Roy was an Airplane Mechanic Gunner serving in Europe. He earned the EAMET Campaign Medal with 7 Bronze Stars and the Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters. Roy is preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Gladys Gibson Navy, his parents, Roy C. Navy, Sr. and Lillie Elizabeth Dixon Navy, and his five sisters, Sarah, Ruby, Mable, Marie and Geraldine. Roy is survived by his two daughters and sons-in law, Tammy and David Teague of Marietta and Pamela and Kimsey Hamrick of Powder Springs, and his son Roy Navy III of Marietta, four grandchildren whom he adored: Brett Navy Hamrick, Courtney Hamrick Wieszchowski, Clinton Navy Teague, James David Teague, Jr., 2 great grandchildren, Hannah Wieszchowski and Tabitha Wieszchowski, and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive family and friends on Wednesday, June 15, from 5-7pm at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, and on Thursday, June 16, one hour before the 11:30am funeral service at Roswell United Methodist Church Chapel, 814 Mimosa Blvd., Roswell.
