
She is survived by her only child, Carol Reed Shutley and son-in-law Ron Shutley of Alpharetta, three grandchildren R. Todd Shutley and his wife, Darlene of Marietta, David Reed Shutley and his wife, Carol of Sandy Springs, and Angela Elizabeth Shutley of Roswell, seven great grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth, Michael, Mark, Reed, Anna, Olivia and Caroline. She is also survived by one sister, Louie Cain Green of Canton. Mrs. Reed was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Winford Eugene Reed.
Mrs. Reed was born in Union County on January 24, 1919 to Luther Cain and Eva Fields Cain, the fifth child and first girl of ten children and was raised in Suches, Georgia. She always had a competitive spirit and a strong will. Her life was hard but she always met each challenge with determination. She loved her family and loved to sew, cook and crochet. She liked to read and when she could no longer read, she listened to as many as six books on tape a week. She made the best of everything and had a good sense of humor.
The funeral will be Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Roswell Funeral Home, Roswell, Georgia. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Green Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home before the service. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Peachtree Christian Hospice, Duluth, Georgia.
